I read on Reddit, that according to analysis of (non-snowden) released computer code, the NSA appears to target anyone who uses any privacy tools, including anything related to the TOR anonymous communications network. They created the tool in the first place for spies all around the world, but apparently simply using that tool at all labels you as suspicious.
In addition, for reasons I cannot possibly fathom, they also consider subscribers of a cool open source technology magazine, Linux Journal, to also be just as suspicious. Apparently anyone interested in privacy technology, continuous deployment, and securing their employer’s servers are also being targeted for deep inspection. Does that make sense? Thinking is illegal now?
So, how did I react? Yes, I immediately subscribed to Linux Journal. I recommend you do the same.
