Okay, so Google phones are really only supported for three years. Most Android devices seem to be abandoned way before that, but Google Nexus phones are usually expected to be supported longer, I thought. It’s no surprise I prefer Apple iOS devices and I still believe they are generally supported with software updates for a longer period of time than most Android phones.
I’ve had this conversation with more than a few co-workers before. I listen to the current news, and have never trusted the Android ecosystem ever. The iPhone ecosystem has some serious limitations, which usually mean some apps get rejected, but the Android ecosystem has never produced any sense of trust that the apps they offer are ever trustworthy. Google removes apps that are proven to be abusive, but they make no effort at all to prevent abuse ahead of time. It’s a total libertarian system, let the chips fall where they may. If you trust someone, you get to suffer the consequences. Not very user friendly.
